Where can I find free info on becoming a tutor/homework helper for children?My neighbors have floated the idea that they could really use some help with their elementary school children, to help give them an academic edge after school. Advertise what you teach – also on Craigslist – and collect your fees yourself rather than trying to get paid by some scam who may go out of business tomorrow when they've got enough money to skip the country.
If you don't feel qualified, take a few classes at a community college and limit who you tutor to younger grades. Eventually, you will feel you are qualified and will be able to list these qualifications for parents. Expect that the students will come to your home or you will go to their home. You might also choose to tutor them at a coffee shop or a sidewalk cafe.
